Well, it's really about personal finance and investment.
It's a turn based game but also a time based game. Starting at the age of 10, each turn represents 3 months.
Each turn you decide where to invest that 3 months. The more time you invest in any category, the more experienced you become in that category. With experience comes increased income or revenue.
You can make money and lose money. And you also have to pay taxes.
The economy of the game doesn't stand still. Each turn, interest rates can change, the stock market can go up or down, governments and taxes can change.
Money Makes Money has been my most successful game on Steam, though many players have grumbled about the cost of living. So, it's fairly realistic right?
